We are back to in-person quilting of Comfort Quilts. Meeting for the first time in 19 months was wonderful! It was great to have people to talk to who were not family, to share stories and admire quilts that had been completed over those many months. The first Guild meeting brought in 24 quilts with more to come. The total is now 27 quilts and 6 tops are to be quilted.
The first meeting found us checking for proof of double vaccination, completing a tracking sheet, sorting out “social distancing” while still having access to a power source and assessing the supplies. Thanks to a purchase from Fabricland, we now have adequate batting and backings. There were even some kits available for those who wanted to start sewing immediately. We should have more kits available by the November meeting for any member to piece and/or quilt. Labels are now available.
Thanks to all those who made contributions. The ladies of Fabricland; Louise Penner, Sue Alexander, Janelle Lambie, Marta Brockman, Barb Street, and Susan Gribbin. Also; Margaretha Norberg, Brenda Sander, Estelle Dion, Barb Bull, Brenda Ball, Catherine Gerhart, Heather Cassis, Waverley Reid, Marlene Haskett and Linda Mielke.
Please consider joining us at Grace United Church. Bring your sewing machine and lunch. Our next meeting is Friday, October 22 at 10 am. Subsequent dates are; November 5 and 26, December 3. In 2022; January 7 and 21, February 4 and 18, March 11 and 18, April 8 and 29, May 6 and 20, June 3.
